What to know

Course profile

A distinctive Florida layout

Opened as a completely new course in 2002, LaPlaya was designed to feel more natural and undulating than many flat Naples layouts. The course uses lakes, native landscaping and shaped fairways to create strategy without relying only on length.

Design

Bob Cupp’s signature

Cupp’s design emphasizes visual variety, strategic water and interesting green approaches. The course offers five tee sets, making it more approachable when played from the right distance.

On the course

Water and green complexes matter

Several holes ask you to choose between aggressive lines and safer angles. The opening par five bends around a lake, while the third is a long par three where both the water and surrounding waste areas influence club selection.

Practice

A strong training setup

The club has a full-length practice range, short-game area, practice bunker and substantial putting greens. It is a good fit for golfers who enjoy warming up properly or working on their game before a round.

Access

Plan around private-club access

LaPlaya is not a typical walk-in public course. Membership provides priority tee-time privileges, while visitors should verify eligibility and current arrangements directly with the club or their host before planning a round.

Who it suits

Best for strategic players

LaPlaya should appeal to golfers who value pace of play, polished conditioning, practice amenities and thoughtful shot selection more than a dramatic championship test. It can suit a wide range of handicaps when the tees are chosen sensibly.
