THE STORY
What to know
THE START
He fell in love with golf immediately
Ribeiro began playing around age 18 after joining friends at Griffith Park Golf Course in Los Angeles. His baseball background gave him plenty of power, but initially very little control.
WHY HE PLAYS
Precision and pressure are the appeal
Ribeiro has described golf as a uniquely difficult target game: the ball is stationary, yet executing the intended shot remains demanding. He also connects golf’s need for immediate focus with the performance demands of acting.
PLAYING JOURNEY
A serious improvement arc
After taking instruction at the Harmon School of Golf in Las Vegas, Ribeiro reported improving from a 14 handicap to 7 in one year, then progressing to 5, 3 and 2.
PLAYING LEVEL
Reportedly a near-scratch or better player
Golf Digest reported Ribeiro’s Handicap Index had reached plus-2.0 before rising to 2.4 in 2019. A separate competition report listed him playing off 4 during the 2019 Pure Insurance Championship pro-am, so his exact current level should not be assumed.
